The active ingredient used in all tanning products is Dihydroxyacetone, also known as DHA. This ingredient, which is naturally derived from sugar cane, reacts with the amino acids in the skin to create a browning effect on the outermost layer of the skin. Full development of the color takes about 24 hours after application regardless of the formulation type (Standard/Express). The intensity of the color depends on the concentration of the DHA as well as the individuals skin type. The color will gradually fade over the course of 7-10 days through natural skin exfoliation just like a natural tan from the sun.

The main difference is the rinse off time. Both formulations will offer the same color results and longevity. With a Standard formulation, you will need to rinse in 8-12 hours. With an Express formulation, you will need to rinse in 2-6 hours depending on the darkness level you would like to achieve. Please note: With an Express tan, your color will not be very visible post-rinse and will continue to develop and darken over the next 24 hours.

Clients are welcome to wear as little or as much as you are comfortable with during the appointment. Be mindful of tan lines. Keep in mind that you will always be offered complimentary disposable items (hair caps, nipple pasties, nose filters, and thongs) if you would like minimal lines and to keep your own items free of tanning solution. However, please understand that males of any age and girls under the age of 18 are required to wear undergarments during their appointment. No exceptions.

The entire process from start to finish will take about 30 minutes or less.

Oh, pale no! While a common concern, it is nothing to worry about with Nuda Glow. Each Glow client receives a 100% customized solution created by our airbrush expert. We select the appropriate darkness level based on your skin type and color along with corrective bronzers based on your skin tone to infuse your solution with.

On average, your tan should last about 7-10 days. Unlike other beauty services, the life of a spray tan is 50% dependent on the clients preparation and maintenance. The remaining 50% relies on the artists application and solution selection. We can't stress enough the importance of properly preparing and caring for a spray tan and following our guidelines to a T to ensure a long-lasting tan with an even fade.

Yes, but be sure to wear a spray tan friendly sunscreen that won't strip your tan. Spray tans unfortunately do not provide UV protection.

We highly suggest scheduling your tan at least two days before any major events (wedding, photo shoot, etc.) and just one day before leaving for a vacation.

The bronzers in your custom solution are temporary and provide immediate color. As a result, we recommend wearing dark, loose-fitting clothing after your appointment to minimize the risk of bronzer transferring to your items. However, bronzers are water soluble and should rinse out of most fabrics if contact occurs. Be sure to cover leather car seats/furnishings and avoid direct contact.

After your spray session, it is best to wear loose, dark clothing. Tight clothing can rub against your tan which may cause it to be uneven. Jeans, leggings, bra and biker shorts are not recommended. Be sure to bring open toe sandals if possible.

It is important to keep skin moisturized after sunless tanning as dry, flaky skin will slough off faster and color will fade sooner. Your goal is to basically slow down your body's natural exfoliation process.

We recommend avoiding these situations for the first 48 hours following your spray tan. Chlorinated pools & spas can increase the rate in which the skin exfoliates causing the tan to wear and fade rapidly.

It is recommended that individuals not tan more than once a week to avoid build-up of tanning solution that will contribute to uneven wear-off.

This allows a complete cycle of natural exfoliation and eliminates patchiness or uneven areas of wear, such as around the waist, inside the arms where the elbow bends, underarms, and backs of knees. These are natural areas of the body where friction from clothing and daily activities may cause premature exfoliation.

In addition, spraying too frequently may also cause the skin to exfoliate more rapidly (decreasing the longevity of your sunless tan), as over-application can alter the skin's pH levels, causing it to shed more frequently.

While our solutions are organic-based, vegan, and formulated with clean and minimal ingredients, we advise all expectant or nursing mothers to consult with their physician before scheduling an appointment. DHA is only approved by the FDA for external application and we require all expectant mothers to wear both nose plugs and a face mask during the airbrush application. In addition, we require all nursing mothers to wear nipple pasties during the airbrush application. A deposit is required to book your appointment. This deposit will be applied toward your total service cost, with the remaining balance due at the time of your appointment.

Spray tanning works wonders on the skin's outermost layer, the epidermis. Let's break down how it interacts with different layers of the skin:

Layers of the Skin

• Epidermis:
  • Stratum Corneum: This top layer, made of dead skin cells, reacts with the tanning agent DHA (dihydroxyacetone) to create that gorgeous tan. It’s safe and only affects the dead cells, not the living layers.
  • Basal Layer: The deepest part of the epidermis where new skin cells are born. Spray tanning doesn’t reach here, so it doesn’t impact cell production.
• Dermis: This middle layer houses collagen, elastin, and blood vessels. Good news! Spray tanning doesn’t penetrate this layer, keeping your skin’s structure untouched.
• Hypodermis: The deepest layer is all about fat and connective tissue. Like the dermis, it remains unaffected by spray tanning.
